You don’t live with your loved one, but regularly visit them to ensure their well-being and have trouble balancing your personal and professional life with the support you are providing?
You live with a senior in need of supervision or help with everyday tasks, and don’t want to leave them alone at home as you worry for their safety?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, and your loved one is over 65, our in-home respite service is for you:
In-home respite
- A safe presence during your absence;
- An in-home assessment conducted to properly define your and your loved one’s needs;
- Stimulating activities based on the interests, capacity and pace of your loved one;
- A single caregiver assigned to you to provide stability and foster the development of a trust relationship with your loved one and communication with you;
- A very affordable rate based on the income of your loved one;
- No commitment and the ability to choose frequency based on your needs, up to a maximum of 24h per month;
- A service available 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.;
- Trained and qualified caregivers so you can confidently go about your daily activities.

Respite is essential for caregivers. This service offers these people valuable time to relax and rest. Our service is provided by trained professionals, helps prevent physical and emotional exhaustion and promotes a better balance in the relationship between between loved ones and caregivers.
How does the service work ?
After a meeting and a preliminary assessment to identify the needs specific to the situation, we go on site to ensure a safe presence for the designated person.
Eligibility
This service is for people over 65 years old and is offered in Villeray, Petite Patrie, Saint-Michel, Par Extension, Saint-Léonard. Rosemont, Montréal-Nord as well as Rivière-des-Prairies.
Grants
Our services are eligible for several credits and subsidies :
- L’APPUI for seniors’ caregivers
L’APPUI Montréal for seniors’ caregivers supports the development of affordable, quality services on the island of Montréal : respite, stimulation, training, information sessions as well as support groups. L’APPUI Montréal is part of a network of 17 regional components financed by the governement of Québec and the Chagnon family. As Novaide cooperative is financed by this fund, it makes it possible to offer home respite services at a very affordable cost ($8.00 to $14.00 depending on the income of the person being cared for).
- Tax credit
Users over 70 are eligible for a tax credit for home support. This credit can reduce the bill by more than 39%.
A statement to request this credit will be provided to you once a year.
Payment :
The payment for our services is made by pre-authorized direct debit. The payment is debited by our accounting department the week following the service, and only when the service has been received. Service cancellations made within a pre-specified period of time are not charged.
